Heroes
The word hero is thrown around so much in our lives. The word is often wasted on those that are often undeserving of the title. Sometimes people that we call heroes are those that we simply envy; someone we want to emulate.
Heroes do not set out to be heroes. They are normal people whom in extraordinary situations simply do what they think is the right thing to do. I promise you when a soldier jumps onto a grenade to absorb the blast and shrapnel, his last thoughts were not about himself. His thoughts were not about fame, fortune, or your respect. Do the right thing. Save my brothers in arms. Stop this bad thing from happening to my friends.
Joseph J. Andres Jr. was not a Superman. He was the friend that was always there for me. We stood back to back in a fight and came out of it together. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, and so much more to other people. I am will always remember him as my friend. Joe and I were friends for many years over several tours in the military.
Joe died fighting for this country that he loved against the worst people that walked this planet. Joe gave his life doing what he loved with his brothers in Baqoubah, Iraq on Christmas Eve 2005. Joe will always be my hero…
Please honor the heroes in your life. If you can please support the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. They give scholarships to the children of fallen Special Operations Soldiers.
Thanks for allowing me to share Joe’s story with you.

Kevin
